Hi there! I'm Syd.

I'm so glad you're here.

Photography entered my life in 2016 when a friend asked me to take her senior photos. At the time, I was a high school student in Lincoln, Nebraska with a borrowed camera, a creative spark, and no idea that one small "yes" would completely change the trajectory of my life.

The following year, I moved to Omaha, NE, to pursue a degree in Media & Advertising at the University of Nebraska-Omaha while navigating collegiate swimming at the Division I level. Every spare moment outside of the pool, classroom, or library was dedicated to refining my skill set in photography - taking on sessions, making mistakes, refining my eye, and slowly building a business from the ground up.

In 2022, I took a leap of faith and moved to Kansas City in search of new opportunities and a fresh challenge. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Today, Kansas City is home. From here, I have the privilege of documenting weddings, brands, athletes, and meaningful moments across the country while also working with Major League Baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs. My work has taken me from intimate wedding days to NFL sidelines, championship celebrations, destination events, and everywhere in between.

One of the things I love most about photography is that no two days look the same. One weekend I may be documenting a wedding tucked away in the mountains, and the next I may be standing on the field before kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium. The constant shift between worlds keeps me inspired, challenged, and endlessly grateful for the opportunities this career has provided.

Along the way, I've had the honor of photographing Super Bowls, postseason baseball, international weddings, and stories that have been featured by national publications. I've also been fortunate to be nominated for Photographer of the Year by Wed. Kansas City - an honor made even more meaningful by the incredibly talented creative community that surrounds me.

But beyond the milestones, awards, or destinations, what matters most to me has always remained the same: people.

The photographs I value most aren't necessarily the perfectly posed portraits. They're the fleeting moments. The tearful hug. The nervous anticipation. The laughter that wasn't planned. The moments that feel ordinary today and become priceless years from now.

I believe the most meaningful stories are often born from seemingly small decisions...a friend's senior session, a first date, a chance encounter, a leap of faith. Those moments have a remarkable way of shaping our lives.

My hope is that when you look back at your photographs years from now, you don't just remember how everything looked - you remember exactly how it felt.

Thank you for being here and for considering me to tell your story. I can't wait to create something meaningful together.

Bits and pieces of my story...

Behind the lens...

When I decided to pursue photography full-time, I was advised to pick a niche. The underlying idea was that clients would be more likely to hire me if I demonstrated excellence in a specific area of photography - the key to securing consistent work.

It was assumed that I would put all of my focus into weddings or sports since they comprised the majority of my portfolio. However, I struggled to choose one specialty because each held a special place in my heart.

So, I did the unconventional and became a crossover artist.

What I believe sets me apart is my ability to smoothly navigate between the contrasting worlds of sports, weddings, and more. Whether capturing the anticipation in a bride's eyes or the elation of a winning touchdown, each of my photographs reflects a blend of emotions and priceless moments.
